Computer Assisted Learning Programme (CALP)

A transitional course for those who have had some success at school but need more credits to achieve NCEA L1 & L2.
Entry Criteria:

Applicant must be a domestic student
-
Be 16 or 17 at the time of study commencement (and not turn 18 within three months of beginning study)

Must not be enrolled in school
-
Have either completed school year 11, or have withdrawn from year 11 in the year immediately prior to enrolling in CALP

Must not have previously enrolled in a SAC funded programme

Note: Applicants are not eligible for any component of a student loan
Course Summary:
The course aims to improve the educational achievements of 16 and 17 year olds by providing them with an opportunity to learn computing free of charge.
Students will learn Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, Access and computer theory with the employment skills needed to enter the workforce or continue further training.
Tuition in literacy and numeracy is a component of the course which helps up-skill students in writing and mathematical skills.
Career Opportunities:
The Course is designed to help students work with computers in a variety of ways that allows them to gain confidence and skills for further study or entering workforce in fields of computing and office administration.
Intakes: Flexible and when a vacancy becomes available.
Duration: 48 weeks (Full Time).
Qualifications: National Certificate in Computing Level 2
Day Classes: 9:00am to 3:30pm (or as per timetable).
