Entry Criteria:

 

The course is free for those who are 18 years or above, and who meet the eligibility criteria of Work and Income NZ and/or the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).

 


Course Summary:

 

The course is designed for people having a desire to learn furniture restoration/recovery and upholstery. The courses provide a broad approach that helps students to develop overall skills generally through work and study. The qualified tutors are very keen to give back to the industry what they have learnt as tradesmen by teaching the trade of upholstry. Students will gain credits towards National Certificate in Furniture Manufacturing Level 3, and a strong knowledge of communication and employment skills.


Career Opportunities:

The course will lead to employment for people in the furniture and upholstery industry.  It also delivers practical upholstery skills and knowledge to people wish to start their own home based business. 


Duration:
 48 weeks (Full Time).

Intakes:   January, but applicant can join the course at any time during the year when vacancy becomes available. 

Qualifications:  Units towards the National Certificate in Furniture Level 2 with strands in Introductory Furniture Finishing Skills, Introductory Furniture Making Skills, and Introductory Upholstery Skills.

Day Classes:  9:00am to 3:30pm (or as per timetable).
